Must-Haves for Road Trips
If you’re planning on taking a road trip soon, you’ll want to make sure you bring along all the essentials. And that means more than just taking along a digital camera and a suitcase. Road trips are the perfect times to do some exploring, experience some untamed wilderness, and even face the surprising and unexpected. If you don’t want to be caught off guard and unprepared, consider bringing along these road trip must-haves. With these items on the trip with you, you’ll be able to tackle most potential experiences, so be sure to take along everything you need.
Bike Carriers
You may be the kind of person who likes to spend his or her time off relaxing and doing absolutely nothing. But if that’s the case, you probably wouldn’t be engaging in a road trip in the first place. Bringing along bicycles allows you the chance to take a brisk ride around town with your friends, where you can stop off and see anything without having to worry about locating parking spaces and the like. Unless you have a very large SUV, a pickup truck, or are only taking one bike along, you’ll want to utilize a bike carrier. These carriers (or bike racks when used on the roof of the vehicle) can hold several bicycles, and keep them secure at high speed so you don’t have to secure them inside the car (where they’d eat up your available space).
Maps
Getting lost may be the biggest buzz kill of anything possible on road trip, mostly because it makes everyone in the car hate being in the car (and a road trip is all about being inside the car). If you stock up on some maps of the areas in which you’re traveling in advanced, you won’t have to be intimidated if you take a wrong turn or miss an exit on the highway. Sure, if you have a GPS you may not have to worry, but if your GPS fails, you’ll always want a backup plan in place.
Blankets
This may sound ridiculous, especially if you plan on sleeping in a clean hotel room every night. But blankets aren’t just for sleeping under. They’re perfect for impromptu picnics, for using to hold in warmth if you’re out for a late night stroll somewhere unknown to you, and more. With items this versatile, you’ll want to make sure you don’t leave that stack of blankets in your closet behind before you go on your road trip.
