Excursion on the Day of the Middle Urals peoples

September 4, 13:00 Rosa Luxemburg 18

Works of naive art are often biographical and are the evidence of connection of the artist with the history of the country and small motherland. Paintings tell about the destiny and character of the author, become an illustration of a retrospective narrative about himself, his family, his people. And then the birth of naive history and folk ethnography takes place before our eyes.

Neuber and Mineral Collections: The Art of the Enlightenment

September 7, 6:30 PM Pushkina St. 5

The last third of the 18th century in the European culture is connected with the ideas of Enlightenment. The interest of the elite in science in its various forms has led to the appearance of refined works of art, filled with intellectual content. One striking example of this trend is the work of J.-H. Neuber. The “pocket mineral cabinets” he invented were extremely popular and the largest specimens became diplomatic gifts. The history of the mineralogical collection as a form of stone-cutting art will be discussed at the lecture meeting.

The lecture will be read by Lyudmila Budrina, PhD in art history, associate professor at the department of art history and museology of Ural Federal University, deputy director of cultural projects of the Shmotiev Family Foundation.

Pre-registration is necessary by clicking here.

The cost of visiting – according to the entrance ticket to the museum. A full ticket – 150 rubles, reduced price – 50 rubles.
