Golden Bridge in Da Nang (Golden Bridge)
A trip to Vietnam would be incomplete without visiting a unique place – Golden Bridge, located on the cliff of Ba Na Mountain. Tourists call this monumental construction “A Touch of Heaven” and if you look closely it looks as if the golden semicircle is supported by someone from above.
Near the resort town of Da Nang, in Ba Na Hills in the summer of 2018 was built a huge bridge in the form of a golden thread, pulled out of the ground by giant hands. This structure looks hundreds, if not thousands, of years old. In fact, it was created just a few years ago out of steel and glass.
Golden Bridge is located at an altitude of more than 1400 m above sea level. Its eight spans are more than 150 meters long. At this altitude, the bridge looks like a silk streak that is hidden in the clouds above Da Nang and is above the treetops from the edge of the leafy cliff.
When tourists are on the bridge, they feel like they are strolling through the clouds like deities living in the sky. After such a walk there are memories to last a lifetime! Especially tourists loved this bridge for the incredible photos.
Where is the Golden Bridge?
Popular with inquisitive tourists, the Golden Bridge is located near the city of Da Nang in the mountain range of Wa Wa, located in the Taiyen Tai Garden near the Bana Hills Resort area. Golden Bridge graces the eastern coast of the city, which also attracts travelers with its warm sea and pristine beaches with shallow shores.
After the opening of the monumental construction authorities managed to note a sharp increase in the number of tourists. Most of them are eager to take a stroll along the Golden Thread in God’s hands. The first to visit the Golden Bridge were the Vietnamese, but the fame quickly spread around the world, and to Vietnam, particularly Danang, now arrives more and more inquisitive tourists. The bridge’s social media ads, images of the architectural masterpiece and travelers’ tales of the incredible monument with its giant tassels have influenced the growth of visitors.
Talking about the Golden Bridge, it is impossible not to mention the most beautiful city in the country – Da Nang. In addition to the structure we are describing, there are other structures, causing visitors unprecedented interest and admiration. These include: Marble Mountains, Dragon Bridge, Tuan Phuoc, Chat Ti Li and others. There are a huge number of them, and each is a masterpiece of architectural art with stunning lighting.
Bana Hills was founded by French colonists at the dawn of the 20th century. They lived in villas, which at that time numbered more than two hundred. Now it is abandoned and the only thing left of the former village are the dilapidated buildings and ruins. To promote the area among tourists, the local authorities have built a small village in the style of the ex-owners – the French and built an amusement park “Fantasy”.
The bridge, 150 meters long, was built by TA Landscape Architects not so much to attract travelers as to connect with the nearby village. Prior to this, the road was potholes and drops, causing problems for traffic. The project cost about $2 billion, and it took less than two years from the idea to open. Stunning varieties of chrysanthemums grow along the perimeter and lavender paths are provided. Visitors to the structure have the feeling that the tourist road is held by huge hands, although in fact it’s just an illusion.
The design and construction of the Golden Bridge
It is worth noting that the curved structure is designed exclusively for pedestrians. No vehicles can move on the bridge. It is 150 meters long, 5 meters wide and has a 3-meter walkway. The structure is located at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. The railing of the golden landmark is made of stainless steel, and the decking is made of dense, high-quality wood that can withstand heavy loads.
In fact, the bridge is supported by seven pillars, only two of which are made in the form of giant arms. If you look from the side, it seems that someone is pulling them out of the thick of the forest. And they look as if they were built thousands of years ago – covered with scratches, damage, cracks and moss, which gives an archaic appearance. This was the purpose of the structure. It seems as if the bridge is supported by the hands of God himself, pulling a long golden thread from the depths of the earth. The work was carried out meticulously, and the shape of the fingers was changed several times for complete authenticity. According to visitor reviews, the Golden Bridge looks magical and stunning in foggy weather.

Golden Bridge in Vietnam. You are in good hands
Vietnam is known for its wildlife: the beautiful mountains, tropical forests, clean beaches and bays. But not only this is famous for the country. There are many architectural masterpieces, ranging from ancient temples to trendy skyscrapers. One of the modern attractions of Vietnam is the unusual Golden Bridge (in the original Vietnamese Cau Vang, the English version is naturally Golden Bridge).
Where is the Golden Bridge of Vietnam?
The bridge is located 30 kilometers west of the country’s fifth-largest city Da Nang in Ba Na Nui Chua Reserve in the Ba Na Mountains.
The design and construction of the Golden Bridge
The bridge is for pedestrians only and has a curved shape with eight spans. Its total length is 150 meters. The structural width is 5 meters and the width of the pedestrian part is 3 meters. The bridge is located at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level.

The decking of the bridge is made of wood and the railing is stainless steel. The exterior of the bridge itself is painted gold, hence the name.
The stone arms of the Golden Bridge
The bridge is supported by seven steel pylons, two of which are huge stone arms. It seems that they literally grow out of the rock, although in fact they are made of fiberglass on the basis of steel frames.
It is worth noting that the stone arms look as if they are hundreds or maybe thousands of years old. They have a lot of damage, cracks and scratches on them, giving them an ancient look. And the mosses covering these arms complete the picture.
The stone arms of the Golden Bridge
According to project director Vu Viet An, the bridge was designed to create the image of the giant hands of God extracting the golden thread from the ground. By the way, Vu Viet An is also the chief designer and founder of the developer TA Landscape Architecture.
To some people, on the contrary, it seems as if the jungle is trying to reclaim the bridge with its stone hands.
Remarkably, the position of each finger of the hands is designed and repeatedly altered to get the optimal shape.
The bridge looks especially spectacular during fog.
The hand theme is quite popular with designers. Consider the famous composition of the Hand of the Desert in Chile or the Underwater Museum in Cancun, Mexico, there are stone hands too
The construction of the Golden Bridge on the towering cliff is part of a plan to expand the Tantai Tropical Garden.
This bridge is not really a tourist attraction. Its main purpose is to connect the cable car station to the popular nearby gardens. Before the Golden Bridge was built, traffic between the two was difficult because of the large difference in elevation.
The bridge was designed in 2017, and the structure itself was erected in 2018. In June 2018, the Golden Bridge was commissioned.
Be sure to read the article about the Langkawi Sky Bridge in Malaysia. This aerial structure hangs literally on one pole.
Golden Bridge in tourism
The indisputable advantage of the bridge is its attraction for tourists.
The Ba Na Mountains themselves are an amazing attraction in Vietnam. This resort was founded by French settlers on the mountainside back in 1919. There used to be about 200 villas here, but now only ruins remain of them.
In 2017, more than 2.7 million people visited these places. And with the advent of the Golden Bridge, that number will definitely grow.
The views from the bridge are amazing and stunning. Its pillars are painted in the colors of the jungle, which gives the impression of walking through the sky. In clear weather, you can see the city of Da Nang to the east.
- The designer of the bridge was surprised by the increased attention to his creation, both locally and internationally
- Take a closer look at the photos and you will realize that the stone arms do not support the bridge at all. They are just a decorative element. But, you must agree, without them the bridge would look much more prosaic.
- The bridge was the first of a $2 billion project to bring tourists to the region.
- On the inside of the bridge, on the sides of the pedestrian area, chrysanthemums are periodically planted, giving the impression of walking through a garden Flowers on the Golden Bridge
