In connection with the name of the mountain top, a legend was born: In one village, a young man and a beautiful girl fell in love. But the couple in love could not be together – there were kinship ties between them. On the advice of their grandmother, they climbed to the top of a mountain, there they were to find a way out and learn all the mysteries of life. When the young people reached the peak, they looked at each other in a completely different way.
The girl realized that she had not yet met her soulmate, and the young man felt the pain of mothers worrying about the integrity of their family. The lovers made a wise decision – to build their lives separately from each other. The couple never regretted it, as their lives separately worked out happily. The top of the mountain was given the name “Peak Love”, as it is supposed to take important decisions for each lover – to be further together or break up.
Everyone who has been to the top, amazed by the beauty of the taiga forest and mountains, which opens from the height in full.

If you have any health problems, you should take it into account before making a decision. Physical training is not obligatory, but those who have it will find it easier to pass the route. Climbing the mountain at an angle of 30-40 degrees takes 3-5 hours, go down 2-3 hours (but for some tourists it is more difficult because of the steep descents).
If you decide to conquer the mountain, reviews of Love Peak (Arshan) will help you decide what to take with you and what to wear:
- you need at least 1.5 liters of water, on hot days – at least 2 liters per person;
- comfortable shoes with a large tread on the soles;
- tight long pants;
- rain gear;
- Nordic poles (optional, but easier to climb with);
- light snacks;
- minimal first-aid kit.
Remember that every gram is felt when you ascend, don’t take anything unnecessary in your backpack.
You should leave only in good weather and only early in the morning (7-8 a.m.) to have time to come down before dark. Weather in the mountains is changing very quickly, if you see that it is going to rain, it is better to refrain from climbing, as a third of the way has sandy soil, which quickly turns into a slippery surface, climbing or descending will be almost impossible.
If you have already started climbing the mountain and see that the weather is changing, stop climbing and descend.

One of the trails starts from the first waterfall (the road to it leads from the 500-year-old larch tree in Arshan Park: before reaching the end of the asphalt path in the park, turn right). The first half of the route has few descents and ascents, which simplifies the way, but you can come across fallen trees. After 1-1.5 hours (from the waterfall) you can reach the first lookout point.
The second trail starts from the white staircase, which can be found near the market. To the left is the road to the waterfalls, and up is Love Peak.

The second trail is more reliable and there is no chance to turn off from it, it is well-trodden from the very beginning, but many height differences along the way make you tired.
From “Arshan” sanatorium you can also take a path to the Peak of Love, it is gentle, but walking along it you will not see any observation points. Along the way there are a lot of sticks from trees that you can use instead of Nordic sticks.
Signs indicate in percentages how much of the trail is already covered – 25%, 50%, 75%. In several places the trail is flatter, without a slope, two-thirds of the distance is in the taiga forest and one-fourth is in the bare rocks. The trail is easier for hikers to walk from 25% to 50%, the hardest part being the last 50%, as there are many steep climbs.
Interesting places along the trail
All along the route there are observation decks and rest spots, which were equipped by the administration in 2019. As you approach the first lookout point, you will see the forests of the Tunkin Valley.
