Okunevaya Bay in Primorsky Krai: detailed information

Okunevaya Bay’s nature and recreation

Okunevaya Bay – a resort in Primorsky Krai, on the shores of the Sea of Japan, you can stay at a comfortable recreation base and recharge your health for the whole year.

Okunevaya Bay is situated on the southeastern coast of the Sea of Japan in Partizansky District of Primorsky Krai. It is considered to be one of the best places for beach recreation in the Far East. It neighbors with no less picturesque small bays – Triozerye and Spokoynaya.

Local residents also call this small bay Malaya Tazgou. The exotic name remained in memory of the Chinese, who once settled in this area, and in the original sounds like Datszygou (translated as “Tazov River”).

The sights of the bay

Until the mid-20th century there was a small village here Tazgou, in which there was a settlement of prisoners directly near the main beach. Today on the shore you can see the remains of a sawmill, blacksmith shop, large cement tanks. The prisoners salted fish in them, extracted fish oil, and extracted iodine from seaweed by boiling.

The jewel of the bay are the rocky remnants of the most bizarre forms, reminiscent of fairy-tale landscapes. On the way to it, which goes through the forest thickets, it is quite possible to pick a whole basket of mushrooms.

You can sunbathe and swim in the crystal clear and warm sea water on three beaches. Two of them are at the coast of the Big Okunevaya and one is at the coast of the Small Okunevaya bay. The covering of the whole beach area is fine purified white sand. The sea bottom near the shore is also sandy, and the entrance to the water is very comfortable, even for small children. However, there is almost no infrastructure in the bay (except for civilized guest houses), which attracts tourists who prefer to holiday “wildly” in tent camping.

The most popular recreation bases in Okunev Bay are:

  • “Bereg Green”;
  • “Azure Coast”.
  • “Oasis”;
  • “Dream Bay”;
  • “Century”;
  • “Robinson” and many others.

Prices for accommodation in the bay on average range from 4000 RUB to 7000 RUB per day. They include staying in cozy cottages with a veranda, kitchen, bathroom and hot water supply. There are also cafes and canteens for those who don’t want to cook by themselves. Those who came with kids will be happy to find an inflatable pool and playground at each base. For adults there are activities such as:

  • diving;
  • water excursions on a boat;
  • visiting of a sauna;
  • a gym right on the beach.
