The longest bench in the world, where is it located and photos

The longest bench

The Red Thread is one of the seven architectural wonders of the world, it is impossible to imagine that this place used to be a simple dumping ground.

But resourceful Chinese creators decided to make it a true paradise for all who love beauty. Now a winding 500-meter-long bench made of high-strength bright red steel is China’s main attraction.

Contemporary Chinese craftsmen do not stop creating masterpieces that continue to amaze mankind. Among them is the “Red Ribbon. This is the name of the steel bench that has an unusual shape and is 500 meters long. It winds along a wooden path in Tanghe Park in the northeastern city of Qinhuangdao.

How the long bench came to be

Not so long ago, the park was abandoned. A spontaneous landfill had even formed here. But the Chinese authorities can’t let any piece of land go to waste like that. Man needs not only factories and plants, apartment buildings and offices, but also such places where you can be alone with yourself or wander in silence together with your beloved.

Taking a closer look at the forgotten park, architects began to offer their own options for its arrangement. Some of them, without thinking too much, presented the following project: to concrete the territory and to decorate it with a variety of flowerbeds. But in the end the authorities commissioned architect Kunjian Yu to take care of the park.

The first thing they did was to clear the trash from the park. The specialists were immediately struck by the beauty of the park. It was clear the citizens would come here after their workday. The only thing left to decide was how to make people’s leisure comfortable. That’s how the idea of the original bench came about.

Bright landmark successfully blended into the natural landscape. It does not spoil the surrounding nature at all. The architects have provided holes in it. They were made so that the plants could make their way to the light. Think about the animals, too. To make it convenient for them to move around the park, the design of the bench has transitions.

The Chinese don’t live without legends. And this amazing bench is also connected with an ancient legend. At the opening of the park, Chief Architect Kunjian Yu explained why the steel bench was painted red. Red is a color especially revered and beloved by the Chinese. It means happiness, luck and wealth.

But that is not what the architects had in mind when they designed it. Conceiving an unusual bench, they were guided by the legend of the red thread that links the fate of a man and a woman. This invisible thread appears at birth, attached to the baby’s ankles. And nothing will prevent the future spouses from meeting.

A beautiful structure and nature merged together. The park is beloved by citizens. Walking through its territory, they can get tired. And the bench is suitable for relaxation. Its height is 60 centimeters, which is very convenient for sitting. And its width varies: in some places it is only 30 centimeters, and somewhere it reaches half a meter.

There are many children in the park. After swimming in the river, a steel bench warms them up. Fishermen, cycling fans love this place. Citizens jog here in the morning hours, do gymnastic exercises. There are a lot of gazebos near the Red Ribbon. From the outside they seem to be designed for recreation. But they are not. Each gazebo is designed in a particular style and has its own name – by the name of the flowers and trees growing in the park. They serve to educate children themselves.

At night, the park is especially beautiful. There are lights mounted in the “Red Ribbon”. At night, they illuminate the space, giving the bench a special mysticism and mystique. There are many lovers here at this time. Perhaps the ancient Chinese legend about the red thread between a man and a woman is true.

I live on Tatarstan, and when it snows every day I ride my bike along the route: Tatarstan – River Port – along the Volga to Kazanka – Kazanka embankment – Podluzhnaya – Gorky Park – Vishnevsky – along the wild boar to Tatarstan. There’s heavy traffic only on Vishnevsky, but I drive on the sidewalk and down the hill and skip this stretch in 7-10 minutes. The rest of the time I’m practically driving on the greenway or along the water. Every year there are more and more cyclists, runners and fast walkers. And there are more than enough places for it in Kazan. Hanging on to the smog, dust and so on is the lot of the lazy …

The neighborhood you described is quiet enough for now. But if the bridge to the Upper Uslon is built, plus the embankment at the river port to Kirov dam, the intensity of traffic will increase many times over.

Do you live in Kazan? Almost every evening and night there is nothing to breathe in the street because of emissions of you know what! “People’s control” on public services is flooded with complaints about this stench!

Walk down the street and you’ll understand where the smog comes from. Only move on foot you can understand that the metropolis does not add health, so the data on cancer no one publishes, and she, unfortunately, as a traffic accident.

Why boast at once? It was not necessary to do anything for the embankment or what? Or is it just for fun?

All this is good, if implemented, a place of attraction for a huge number of people will be. But we must not forget that people will come there not only by public transport, but also by car. If they do not provide parking for them, but people will not go there just for nothing. Yes, there will be students, there will be retirees, but the target audience, which is expected by the business, ready to enter into the service of the whole mega-machine, will not be – they just will not go to spend money where it is not convenient!

Where do students and others who come there on public transportation get the money to pay admission. But you’re right, the motorists need parking lots, and preferably paid, in order to cut off all sorts of nasty people from visiting the area.
